Student 4: Ode to a Grandfather Clock

Keats' grandfather clock was rescued from a shipwreck.

Gone through many things

Seen many sights

Felt many feelings

What is this amazing shadow

Sitting in the corner

Next to many memories

It watches as life goes by

Tick! Tock! Tick! Tock!

Everything is silent

But it will never stop

No matter how many people

No matter how much time

It will always be there

Old and rusty

Still will never stop,

It will always Tick and Tock

Amazing looks, amazing sounds

Amazing history

The history of this treasure

Is truly beautiful.

Ship wrecked and damaged,

Still made it back home.

Back home to Keats,

As happy as time itself.

Tick! Tock! Tick! Tock!

Of course, it’s the clock

Looking out of the great window

That tells us everything about the past.

It has been round the world

From Britain

Ruined on the way

It managed to recover

However, not in time for Keats,

Not in time to see him

And make the time go faster.

It will never forget

And will always remember

The clock.
