Ode to a fireplace

The crackling startling

Fiery beast fills me with warmth

The flames huge and sparkling

Head up north

It grows and grows on

The mysteries go forth

What secret lies beneath

What is hidden and forgotten?

What is wrapped within the wreaths?

What lies lost and yet begotten?

What shall you discover within the open hearth.

The fire surrounded from the top to bottom

The piercing heat tackling from underneath

The fire flaming with the vigorous colours of autumn

Its energetic hearth goes forth like destructive teeth

Soaring through the night the blaze grows and blossoms.

The dancing flames glow

Within the midnight

The fire scattering like an uncontrollable show

Leaving me breathless and out of sight.

The orange, red and yellow beauty aglow

The beautiful vibrant colours take flight

Silently the wind hushed by the fireside chatters and flows.

The blazing firestorm flies up like a kite

Warmth fills the atmosphere, the whistling wind blows

It leaves an alluring yet dazzling sight

Fireplaces built in the dwelling

Made and set

For folksy story telling.

Where heat and warmth is met

While the flames light the scenery up, growing and swelling

Where happiness and joy is kept.
